Job Description:

The purpose of the role is to assist the senior actuary with the valuation responsibilities for Discovery Employee Benefits. The key tasks for the role include monthly experience reporting, quarterly regulatory reporting, semi-annual valuation reporting and various actuarial analytics projects. This work involves analysing and giving input on key actuarial metrics to assist in management decision making and working with teams across the business to help improve different aspects of the product offering.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining and updating data controls and systems
  • Valuation reporting and embedded value calculations to be included in the semi-annual financial reports
  • Enhance existing processes
  • Report on monthly actuarial experience for ongoing monitoring of the business and to inform management decisions
  • Semi-annual, in depth, experience analyses to assist with setting assumptions
  • Quarterly and annual regulatory reporting
  • Working with other teams across the business to improve data and client experience metrics
  • Develop and maintain existing valuation models

Job Requirements:

  • Nearly or newly qualified FASSA (or international equivalent)
  • Honours in Actuarial Science
  • CT1 and CT5 exemption or equivalent

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s/Honours degree in Actuarial Science or Mathematical Statistics from an accredited institution
  • At least 2 – 4 years of working experience as an actuarial analyst
  • Matric with Mathematics
  • Experience as an actuarial analyst (within the Life Insurance or Retirement industries)
