Job Description:
A vacancy exists for a Head Radiographer, who will be responsible for the management of the radiographer team at all hospitals in the Border Kei region, reporting to the Practice Manager, Hendrik Cronje. The successful candidate will be responsible to oversee the day-to-day activities of diagnostic imaging departments/ Business Units as well as all aspects relating to people management. They will work closely with physicians in a health care facility or hospital to evaluate patients and monitor their progress. This position is a management position and will not perform clinical work except by exception and on request of management.
Job Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for the training and development of the radiographer team
- Maintain acceptable levels of health and safety, and report all deviation to procedure to Senior Management
- Ensure equipment is in working order to provide a safe patient environment
- Ensure all employees are aware and compliant to the policies and procedures of human resources and operations
- Ordering of contrast and materials
- Drive and manage all people related policies and processes including managing patient complaints/and compliments; scheduling of staff rosters, hospital allocation, managing leave etc
- Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders (i.e. HOD’s, Enabling functions, patients, family members, service providers etc.) through ongoing communication and feedback
- Take part in routine daily inspection of equipment and quality assurance procedures
- Keep up-to-date with current techniques and developments in radiographic and imaging procedures and drive in-service training and completion of CPD’s for all radiographers and other employees
- Prepare patients for radiology examinations or procedures for which they are scheduled
- Drive and manage all people related processes including managing patient complaints/and compliments
- Participate in business planning and budgeting processes and manage costs
- Maintain good working relationships with colleagues and with non-radiographic staff, both in the radiology Department and elsewhere in the hospital/offices and remote sites

Qualification & Experience:
- Proven experience of managing people for at least 3 years
- Have at least 5 years general diagnostic radiography experience
- Own transport and a valid driver’s license is essential with the ability to travel is essential
- Both public and private healthcare experience will be considered
- Excellent computer literacy in all MS office packages and
- Degree in Diagnostic Radiography
- Be registered with HPCSA
- An ability to communicate verbally and in writing to present information both clinical and non-clinical persons
- CT, MRI and Mammography experience is an advantage
